I wrote several articles last year on affordable home ownership and the unit savings model with NEST Uganda. I received a lot of feedback from people who would like to make the process more hassle-free, starting from buying land.
In 2025, we are taking a solution-oriented approach by collectively acquiring land through NEST Uganda, which will also assist with developing homes on the land using a combination of a savings plan and building loans. The current areas of interest, selected through a customer survey, are Gayaza Road and Entebbe Road. The estimated cost for undeveloped land is UGX 30 million per plot in Gayaza and UGX 60 million per plot on Entebbe Road.

2025 Savings Plan
The payment plan is split into two for ease of payment. The first year will be a savings plan, dividing the annual payment into 12 months. At the end of 2025, a land agreement will be shared with all those who have successfully completed the first-year payment. The architectural planning for the house can commence at this phase.
2026 Credit Plan
As architectural plans are finalized in 2026, the buyer is expected to meet the credit obligations for the final transfer of titles. The credit plan consists of 12 equal instalments for the balance; however, lump sum payments to clear the balance are also acceptable.
Benefits
Flexible payment plan
Proper due diligence for land titles
Assessment for building loans after completion of land payment
