We can officially announce that the financial year 2025/2026 has begun, as the Bank of Uganda and the Treasury Office have finally released the treasury bond auction calendar for this period.
Auction Calendar for the Financial Year 2025/2026
Notably, for those engaged in long-term investments, three of the well-desired treasury bonds from previous auctions are making a return.
These include the 16.25% 10-year treasury bond, which matures in 2035 and pays in November and May. This was an original 15 year Bond now making its return as a 10-year Bond;
the 15-year treasury bond, introduced last year with a coupon rate of 15.8%, maturing in 2039; and
the 20-year treasury bond, which has a coupon rate of 15% and matures in 2043. All three of these popular options are back on the auction calendar.
In exciting new developments, a 25-year treasury bond will be introduced, maturing in 2050. This is an excellent opportunity for young and ambitious investors, as it promises to be a lucrative investment over a good long term. The auction for this bond will commence in August, so if you are interested in investing in the 25-year bond, mark your calendars for that month.
For those planning laddering, it will be paying in August and February.
Additionally, there will be a change regarding the five-year bond. The government of Uganda and the Bank of Uganda are introducing a new five-year treasury bond that will mature in 2030. It is important to note that the previous 2029 five-year bond has been discontinued and will not return to the auction calendar.
No mention of the new 3 year bond?
All ready to be in August is the month thanks our commander 🤞🏻🫡
